Tea and Grapes

I painted this still life with a group of artists at a workshop in Houston by Carlene Reeves. It was a great workshop and it is always nice to paint with other artists - both for their input and inspiration.

Poppies

The next small painting, including the painted matte. This one of poppies.

Iris

I plan to paint several of these small paintings. I enjoy continuing the painting onto the matte. They are fun to paint and might make nice gifts.

Sunlit Deer

This setting with the deer and the fading light was immediate inspiration for a painting. The silhouette of the deer against the trees was beautiful. I will paint this scene more than once!

Satsumas

These satsumas are from a tree in our backyard - they are both beautiful and delicious.

Wine and Grapes

This is a still life I worked on today. The way the light hit the grapes was especially beautiful. I enjoyed working with these colors.

Shrimp Boat

This painting has been juried into the 10th annual national exhibition of the American Impressionist Society. It will be on display at Sak's Gallery in Denver, CO, from October 23 through December 1. I am very honored to have my art chosen for this exhibition.

I painted this shrimp boat as it slowly made its way up the bayou in Cocodrie, LA. I was on a painting trip with a group of friends, and was captivated by the beauty of this scene. It was really a pleasure to paint.

Church in Southern France

This is a painting I did in a small, beautiful village in Southern France, and the other photo shows where I stood to paint the study for this painting.

Last Light

I painted this sunset of Galveston, and at the very end, painted the bird and its reflection. When the sun would find its way through the clouds, it was like a brilliant flash of light.

Colors of The Sun

Sunsets have always been one of my favorite things to paint. Some are soft, subdued colors. Others, like this one at Galveston, show the more vibrant colors of some sunsets. I had a great time painting this one, and was very sad when it was lost in Hurricane Ike.

Thinking of You

It is a very nice feeling to paint different members of my family and my friends. This one, from an old photo of my mother, is one of my favorites - she was a true romantic and drew this heart in the sand, a young girl in love (with my father)!

Marie Michelle

I find that I really enjoy painting portraits, both in oils and pastels. This is a pastel painting I did of our daughter enjoying the bluebonnets of the Texas Hill Country. I wanted to capture the gentle nature of Marie Michelle.
